What teachers want the government to do.
Teachers will go on strike on August 26 if Knut and its sister union, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet), could not resolve the six issues they had listed on August 7.
They called for the hiring of 20,000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, the conversion of junior secondary school instructors, and the full execution of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for 2021–2025.
Additionally, they charged TSC of violating the agreement by neglecting to execute the Addendum’s second phase, which would have applied to all teachers starting on July 1, 2024, and included basic salary and allowances.
