TSC makes drastic modifications to its Sub-County Directors’ roster.
Changes are being made to the county offices and parts of the sub counties by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Many of the Commission’s Sub-County Directors (SCDs) are presently being transferred from one of their existing locations of service to another.
The SCD is being reorganized at a time when calls for accountability and honesty in President Ruto’s administration are mounting.
Teachers have also been complaining for a while now about a number of TSC county and sub-county officers, alleging that they are dishonest and unscrupulous when it comes to giving promotions and allocating large schools.
Nonetheless, the TSC’s drastic adjustments are meant to cover the voids left by several of them being elevated to director roles.
As part of the ongoing adjustments, the Commission intends to elevate a number of Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) and headteachers to the position of SCD.
In the most recent transfers, Dr. Emily Amudanyi was moved from Ainapkoi Sub-County to Mutungu Sub-County in Kakamega County. Rachael Lang’at, who had switched positions with her, will take her place.
Marion Ole Nyandelai, the SCD for Pokot North, has moved to Chemolingot in Baringo County, while Mathias Okumu, the SCD for Loyangalani, has been transferred to the office of the TSC Nyanza Regional Director.
Conversely, Nyandelai, a Chelelgo sent to Marigat to replace Kiptisia, has been replaced by Joseph Kiptisia, who has been transferred from Marigat to Pokot North.
Priscah Mokoro has been named the new Kitutu Central SCD, among other changes. Wasley Rotich, who has been serving Kisii South and Kitutu Central, two sub-counties, is relieved of additional responsibilities with this new position.
Caren Owaga has taken over for Pamela Ameka, who has been leading Suba in Homa Bay County. The next stop for Ameka was not readily apparent.
Chimako Kaingu, who was in charge of Ruiru in Kiambu County, is also impacted by the changes as he now has jurisdiction over Nyali. Lucy Wanjiru Karai, whose prior station was unknown, received his handover.
Robert Muriuki will be replaced by Kaingu in Nyali, while the former will move to Gatanga in Murang’a County.
After receiving a promotion to Principal Teacher Management Officer (PTMO) and taking on a new role in Mandera West Sub-County, Mohammed Shukri Maalim was a CSO.
Robinson Kinyanjui steps down as SCD in Navakholo, Kakamega County, and is replaced by Patrick Bulinda.
More than fifty Sub-county Directors who applied for the Director jobs were recently interviewed by TSC.
The successful candidates will now move up to job group R from P. Both those in the field and those serving as deputy directors at TSC headquarters are up for promotion.
Milton Oyugi, the Kericho County TSC Director, Erick Magak, the Vlhiga Deputy Director, and Carol Nandi, the Migori Deputy Director, are among the individuals who were elevated from the field.
Additionally elevated are Carol Nandi, the current Migori SCD, and Everlyne Chemjor, the current Tongaren SCD in Bungoma County.
A few others are Kiambu County’s Kikuyu SCD, Catherine Nairoshi. Nairoshi was working as a public relations officer at headquarters prior to being sent to the field.
The Commission posted job advertisements for 13 Deputy Director-Teacher Management jobs in February of this year. These positions are at TSC Job Grade 5 and were made possible by the Commission’s adoption of its revised Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) for Secretariat employees.
In addition to a base monthly pay ranging from Ksh192,782 to Ksh288,051, home allowance of Ksh50,000, commuting allowance of Ksh16,000, and 30 days of annual leave per calendar year, those nominated to the jobs will have a five-year renewable contract.
