TSC intern Recruitment Advert,The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will recruit 20,000 teachers on internship terms in October this year.
The Commission had planned to hire the interns in July but has postponed the exercise to October due to budget constraints.
While appearing before the National Assembly Education Committee yesterday, TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia revealed that it has faced severe budget cuts from the Treasury thus affecting its operations including that of recruiting teachers.TSC intern Recruitment Advert
Macharia said the hiring of 18,000 junior and 2,000 primary school intern teachers will now be done in October this year.She said the recurrent TSC budget has been reduced by sh10.28 billion hence affecting its programs.
TSC in its presentation of the 2024 – 2025 Financial Year Supplementary Estimates I noted that the new gross recurrent budget is Sh347.49 billion down from the initial allocation of Sh357.77 billion.
TSC listed other programs to be affected from budget cuts which include; July salary increment for teachers from the 2021 – 2025 CBA, training of teachers on Competency Based Curriculum (CBA) among others.
The Teacher Internship Programme is a one year programme meant to equip and sustain competencies of persons entering the teaching service.
The programme targets unemployed registered teachers to be assigned to learning institutions where their teaching experience will be enhanced through mentorship, coaching and exposure to practical teaching experience.
Application for TSC internship shall strictly be done online.
To be eligible to serve as intern in primary school one must be a holder of a PTE or DPTE certificate and is registered with TSC.
Those in junior school must have at least a Diploma and C+ in KCSE with C+ in two teaching subjects.
They must also be registered with TSC.
Documents required during verification
During verification/ interviews, applicants shall be required to produce the following: –
- A copy of Teacher Registration Certificate/print-out from TSC online portal as evidence of registration as a teacher;
- A copy of National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (where applicable);
- A copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport;
- Two (2) colour passport size photographs;
- A copy of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card;
- A copy of Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
Interns attached to primary schools will earn a monthly stipend of sh 15,000 while those in junior school will get sh 20,000.
On successful completion of the Internship Programme, teacher interns will be awarded an internship certificate.
