KICD releases the approved CBC textbooks and their prices as the school reopens,
As parents continue to prepare for the reopening of schools, the government has finally released the list and prices of approved books in response to the growing public outcry over the sale of counterfeit, unapproved books for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) by certain businesspeople.
To assist parents in purchasing genuine teaching resources, the government, via the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), released a list of all the authorized CBC materials over the weekend.
To prevent stakeholders from being misled when they buy, KICD has also released the suggested retail costs for the course materials.
Grade 9 Book Prices
Some of the published books that will be a requirement approved by the KICD include the Oxford Head Start English Learner’s Book Grade 9, Top Scholar Social Studies Learner’s Book Grade 9, and Moran Agriculture Learner’s Book Grade 9, which will be retailing for Ksh845, Ksh860, and Ksh 350, respectively.

Meanwhile, the government is still racing against time to ensure that all Grade 9 classes are ready ahead of the reopening that will begin on Monday, January 6, this year.
