JSS teachers will be recruited progressively starting in January, according to Treasury CS Mbadi.
As part of the Treasury’s efforts to strengthen and assist the education sector, junior secondary school (JSS) teachers will be hired gradually starting in January 2025.
John Mbadi, the cabinet secretary for national treasury, stated that the budget includes money for hiring JSS instructors.
“We have the budget; there was not enough money to hire JSS instructors right now, but there is money to hire them starting in January. “It’s there,” the CS said.
He added that the ministry had already released Sh3.4 billion for the construction of classrooms and that the World Bank had also provided support.
“Classes will be held,” he declared.
“In addition, despite Kenya’s financial difficulties, the funding for classroom construction has been implemented in conjunction with the NGCDF funds.”
The government has taken encouraging steps in the past to address the issue of JSS teachers’ employment.
