HELB establishes guidelines for new loan and scholarship applications.
Guidelines for first-time applicants to undergraduate and Technical Vocational and Education Training (TVET) scholarships and loans have been released by the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). Applicants are encouraged by HELB to utilize a working phone number and to submit accurate information.
Candidates should also make sure that their email account is available before beginning the application process, and use a genuine email address with a memorable password.
In addition to providing current university or institution information, applicants must use the relevant KCSE Index Number and examination year.
They should also read and comprehend the loan and scholarship applications’ terms and conditions.
In addition, HELB asks that candidates make sure the funding organizations have their most recent email address and notify them of any changes to their courses or transfers to another institution or university. Candidates ought to submit their applications as soon as possible.
To apply for a scholarship or loan for the first time, go to www.hef.co.ke and click “register” to set up an account.
It is advisable for applicants to verify if they possess national identification cards. It is recommended that those without national identification use their KCSE Index Number instead of using someone else’s ID. A working email address and password are required for applicants to finish the registration process.
Once their account has been activated, go to their Inbox or Spam/Junk folder to check their email and log in. Enter a working phone number after that for confirmation.
They ought to update their biodata and complete their profile details following verification. It is necessary to give consent for the collecting of your personal data. After completing these procedures, users can submit their loan or scholarship request and accept the terms and circumstances of the loan, so agreeing to the processing of their data.
They should also supply loan payment information (bank or mobile payment) and update their guarantor details.
At last, they are able to turn in their application. Earlier this year, on June 21, HELB opened the application portal for loans and scholarships to TVET and undergraduate students.
