Education stakeholders demand an ideal environment for KCSE students.
The public has been asked to provide a welcoming environment for candidates as more than 950,000 are scheduled to take the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
English and Chemistry papers are the first to be taken in the national exams, which will end on November 22, 2024.
“Students nationwide are sitting for their papers, and the stakes are enormous. Education specialist Otoa Sifuna told Citizen Digital, “With such a large cohort of candidates, the importance of a supportive and conducive environment cannot be overstated.”
Exams, according to Otoa, are a crucial part of a student’s educational path since they evaluate information and abilities gained over time and have an effect on prospects for the future.
“A student’s career and path to further education can be influenced by their KCSE grades. Families, communities, and institutions must thus establish an environment that helps these young students focus and feel less stressed,” Sifuna continued.
He went on to say that local communities may show their support by making sure that there is no needless noise and that the surroundings are peaceful during exam times.
“This can mean temporarily reducing activities that may cause distractions near examination centers, such as loud music, construction work or public events,” he said.
The seamless operation of the examination procedure has also been urged on educational authorities and schools. This involves setting up the exam logistics correctly and putting in place the right security measures to stop malpractice of any kind.
