CS Julius Migos scolds opponents while defending the university funding model.
CS Education In a forceful defense of the new university funding model, Julius Migos said that it is the best approach to meet the financial needs of students from diverse origins.
Speaking on Tuesday in Mombasa County during the International Confederation of Principals, the CS mentioned that the new model is designed to meet the demands of pupils with different financial situations.
Migos added that the Ministry had acknowledged the worries and promised to address them over the course of the upcoming few weeks.
“The funding model has been in place for 29 years; the needs for testing instruments have been reviewed and adjusted to ensure that the children who need government support receive the majority of the funds from the government,” the speaker said.
President William Ruto introduced the new university model to guarantee that financial aid is provided to students based on their needs.
The new fund is divided into five categories based on the families of the students’ financial situation.
The bands were established “so that children of those who can afford can bear rightful share of the school burden,” the CS went on to say.
He went on to say that his group had developed a portal as a ministry to help with student re-banding.
He clarified, “We have set up a webpage where students can file an appeal in order to have their concerns addressed if they have evidence that they were placed in the incorrect band.
“We are working tirelessly to get you back together.”
The CS mentioned that every learner must have a 100% transition as per government policy.
“In the future, I promise that we will address that issue in the coming weeks, and every single child who is eligible to attend school will do so because we are implementing a full transition,” he declared.
His reassurance came as a number of prominent figures, including Senator Ledama Olekina of Narok, described the new model as unclear and claimed it created unequal student classes.
